Carl Haensel is a fly fishing guide, writer, photographer, educator and biologist. He has guided and taught fly fishing since 1996 and has authored over 100 articles on techniques, tips, flies and locations, as well as Fly Fishing Minnesota and Minnesota Fly Fishing Maps. From 1996 until 2003 he owned and operated Around the Bend Flyfishing based in Eden Prairie, MN. From 2001 until 2007 he served as a regional manager for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Fish and Boat Commission. Carl has focused on guiding northern Minnesota and Wisconsin since 2007, targeting steelhead, trout, smallmouth bass, pike and other species. More about Carl.
Keith Behn has been guiding fly anglers in both Minnesota and Wisconsin for over 30 years. A skilled canoeist on the upper Bois Brule River, Keith excels in providing an exceptional client experience while pursuing trout, steelhead and warmwater species in both states. Keith enjoys chasing everything from walleyes to muskies and is at home on the water anywhere around the Northland.
Jason Swingen is a web developer, internet marketer, outdoor writer, and an avid fly fisherman. He grew up in Montana chasing mule deer and antelope, but since moving to Duluth in 2014, he has been primarily focused on catching steelhead and smallmouth bass on the fly. He is currently the Vice-President of the Gitche Gumee Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and the email campaign manager for Minnesota Trout Unlimited. Carson Spohn has been an avid fly fisherman and fly tier from a young age. He enjoys fishing along the North Shore as well as the Brule River and can be found fishing year-round. Born and raised in Duluth, MN, he has spent many years canoeing, fishing, hunting, and camping around the area. He can be found fishing primarily for steelhead, brook trout, and smallmouth bass. He has also worked for many years at a local bike shop in the area when he is not fishing.
